Between experiences with poor customer service, tedious installations, the heady stream of cable bills – it’s no wonder everyone is talking about cutting the cord. But before you get out the wire cutters and start streaming everything, the cable-cutting dream might be a myth. Here to explain more is Omar Gallaga of the Austin American-Statesman’s 512 Tech.
“[Cable companies] are getting in on the game themselves,” he says. “I don’t think it’s cannibalizing their business, necessarily, because they’re going after people who are never going to sign up for satellite or cable – people that will never be their customers unless they get offered a streaming option.”
