This Former Austinite Misses His Texas Breakfast Tacos

“Every now and then I get a hankering.”

Kyle Overby is originally from Austin. He left about a year ago to go to Barcelona, Spain, where he’s helped start an American high school program that’s connected to Austin’s AESA Prep Academy. The program offers American curriculum to international students and Spanish students living who may one day want to go to the U.S.

What does he miss the most about Texas? He says his friends and family come first, but then it’s all about the breakfast tacos.

“Every now and then I get a hankering,” he says. “I go to some Mexican food places around town just to get a taste of home.”

But Overby says the Mexican food in Spain just doesn’t quite cut it. The worst Mexican restaurants he’s tried were Tex-Mex, but he has been able to find one good one that offers interior Mexican food.
