Jennifer Idol is the first woman to dive across all 50 states – and one of the few Texans with an ice-diving certification.
“I developed my mission to dive across all 50 states when I flew over the Deepwater Horizon oil spill,” Idol says. “I knew what it meant for life under the water.”
Idol combined her skills as a designer, diver and underwater photographer to create her book, “An American Immersion.” Her articles are widely published in diving magazines and her photography is on permanent display in installations at Jacob’s Well Natural Area and the Lake Murray Wildlife Museum.
This native Texan lives in Austin, but travels to destinations across the globe. “I wanted people to fall in love with the States and really see the beauty in the water,” Idol says.
