Notably: the power of younger voters, the Latino vote, and the fight for the suburbs. Donald Trump’s six point margin of victory, and Republican retention of control of the Texas House raise many questions about those expectations and assumptions. Election Results

Election counts are still going on in a handful of states. But in Texas, after all the talk and all the money, the GOP won big. Sharon Navarro, professor of political science at UT-San Antonio and Jim Riddlesperger, professor of political science at Texas Christian University talk to the Standard about where the election results are still out and how Texas candidates did.

Texas Democrats Didn’t Flip the House

Gov. Greg Abbott wasn’t on the ballot but he wasn’t sitting on the sidelines in this general election. In fact, he spent a lot of his own money and went knocking on doors over the last few weeks as Democrats took aim at flipping the Texas House. They needed nine seats to gain control, but fell short. KERA’s Mallory Falk reports.
