After four days of intensive mingling among politicos, policymakers and people just like you, another Texas Tribune Festival is in the books. The “Texas Standard” was at TribFest, broadcasting live, and eight years into this annual event, it’s remarkable how many movers and shakers the folks at the Trib are able to attract.

This year’s event featured discussions with former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development – and potential future presidential candidate – Julián Castro, Sen. Amy Klobuchar, Congressman Beto O’Rourke – who’s in that red-hot Senate race against Ted Cruz – and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, among many others.

But TribFest isn’t just about the big names; the bulk of the attendees are civic-minded folks who feel compelled to keep up with and analyze the news of the day. Michael Marks of “Texas Standard” spent part of TribFest playing a little political word association with festivalgoers. He asked for their responses to words and phrases like “Texas legislature,“ “2020,” “blue wave” and “immigration.”
