What a week it’s been! There’s no better time to welcome the one and only Emily Ramshaw, editor-in-chief of the Texas Tribune, back to the Standard.

– Former Gov. Rick Perry, once a candidate himself, championed Ted Cruz’s campaign after dropping out of the race. Now, he’s thrown his support behind the GOP’s presumptive nominee. But Perry hasn’t gotten much love back.

“Rick Perry was the first one to be just hypercritical on Donald Trump,” he says. “Now he has a different tune… maybe Perry could be considered a VP – Trump shot that down pretty quickly.”

Perry has said he’d consider a position somewhere else, possibly on veterans’ affairs.

What you’ll hear in this segment:

– What posts that Trump could consider Perry to fill

– What’s behind the Texas Congressman’s open letter to Trump to “shove it”

– More behind Trump’s Texas visit next week
