Typewriter Rodeo: Allergies

Each week, the Texas Standard is reaching out to Austin’s Typewriter Rodeo for a custom poem on a relevant headline or topic.

Ah, it’s the best time of the year. The sun is out, the flowers are blooming and…the pollen is high.

That was the inspiration for this week’s Typewriter Rodeo by Sean Petrie.

ALLERGIES

Cedar, oak, grass, mold,

Allergy season never gets old.

Sniffle, sneeze, blow, cough,

Scratch my eyes, till they fall off!

Zrytec, Allegra, sweet Neti pots,

For the serious fan, bi-weekly shots.

Oh, Central Texas I’ll never leave,

But sometimes…I wish…you’d just let me…breathe.
