Typewriter Rodeo: An Edit Button on Twitter

Each week, the Standard reaches out to Austin’s Typewriter Rodeo for a custom poem on Texas topics.

It’s not the biggest thing in the world. It may be the smallest — a misplaced letter, forgotten punctuation, clumsy thumbs. But it can obscure your message, change its meaning entirely, or just make you feel a little silly. That was the inspiration for this Typewriter Rodeo poem.

You’ve done it
you’ve thought of the perfect tweet

You’ll surely go viral
your cleverness & wit
will be shared by thousands
just draft, review, and send

Oh no, not again
comment one, comment two, go ahead
and mute the thread

You wrote your when it should be you’re
and the grammar crazies
are at it again

Oh, dearest Twitter,
do it already
please, oh please
let us edit our tweets!
