Typewriter Rodeo: April Fools’

Each week, the Standard reaches out to Austin’s Typewriter Rodeo for a custom poem on Texas topics.

It’s that time again – a day of pranks both big and small. That was the inspiration for this Typewriter Rodeo poem:

April Fools’

Orange juice in your cereal
Balls of socks fly off the fan
Curry powder in your lotion
For days, bright yellow hands

Vodka in your seltzer
I scream, say I’ve been hurt
You run with wipes and band-aids
I hide your favorite shirt

I’m failing, moving, pregnant
I won 2 million bucks
But the best part of April Fools’
Is how it proves you’ll love me, no matter what
