Typewriter Rodeo: Bag Help

Each week, the Standard reaches out to Austin’s Typewriter Rodeo for a custom poem on Texas topics.

Sometimes you get a bagger at the grocery store who seems to read your mind and put things exactly where you want them. Sometimes you don’t. That was the inspiration for this Typewriter Rodeo poem.

Bag Help

Try not to cringe
As they put the eggs there
Bananas on the bottom
Don’t you even care?

I could reach to help
But you’re moving so fast
And now the bag is full
My time has passed

Here comes the second
With more produce on the bottom
Topped with heavy cans goods
We’ve got a grocery problem

At last you’re done
And I’ll cringe no more
I’ll just re-bag it all
When I’m out the door.
