Typewriter Rodeo: Bugs

Each week, the Texas Standard is reaching out to Austin’s Typewriter Rodeo for a custom poem on a relevant headline or topic.

Texas is seeing a lot of insects right now. Thanks to recent rain, mosquitoes are especially prevelant. That was Typewriter Rodeo’s Sean Petrie’s inspiration this week.

BUGS

A tiny buzzing

In my ear

How can one small thing

Cause so much fear?

Where is it now?

I’ll find it yet

I should’ve bought

A mosquito net

‘Cuz that little bugger

Is somewhere close

Oh there it is!

Oh no, my nose!

Holy cow that’s crazy

I’ve gotta itch!

Hey I’m just scratching —

It’s not a pick!
