Typewriter Rodeo: Christmas in Austin

Each week, the Standard reaches out to Austin’s Typewriter Rodeo for a custom poem on Texas topics.

Christmas in Austin (for Lauren)

Okay it won’t be
A white Christmas
Unless you count
That smooth queso

And okay it probably won’t be
One where everyone is bundled up
Unless you count
That breakfast taco wrap

But take a stroll
Down Congress
Those lights will rival
The biggest cities

Or twirl yourself silly
Under the Zilker Tree
You can’t do that
In Rockefeller Square!

See the light show at Mozarts
Cheer the Longhorns
In the playoffs

And after the holiday cheer
If you’re brave and bold
Splash into the New Year
At Barton Springs

Yes there’s a chill, thrill, and depth
That can’t be found
Anywhere
Else
