Texan ladies love a good pair of cowboy boots, even if they’ve never seen a horse. That was the inspiration for Typewriter Rodeo’s Jodi Egerton as she wrote this week’s poem.
City Girls in Cowboy Boots
In the unlikely event
That of a rampaging herd of cattle
Gets loose on Congress Avenue
During the heart of the lunch rush
I am ready.
To rustle and wrangle
To roll and rope
To pounce on my fleeing calves
And send them back to the ranch
With enough time left for a taco
And a kombucha
It may not look like I need to be wearing
These cowboy boots
for work
But that’s just because I haven’t yet
Gotten the chance
to ride
