Typewriter Rodeo: Distracting Springtime Roads

Each week, the Standard reaches out to Austin’s Typewriter Rodeo for a custom poem on Texas topics.

In Texas, it’s that time of year when everything is blooming and it’s pretty hard to drive right by without stopping.

Distracting Springtime Roads

Oh out we go
On 71
Next stop BBQ
Here we come!

Nothing can stop us
We’re on our way!
Oh wait what’s that
Slow down, okay?

It’s like a treasure
And we’ve stumbled upon it
An entire field
Of blooming bluebonnets

Come on, get out
Let’s go see!
Here grab my phone
Take one of me!

And look, over there
Just past those hills
Indian Paintbrush
And daffodils!

And there’s more down this way
It’s not that far
This place is just GORGEOUS!
Now just…where’s the car?
