Typewriter Rodeo: Drones

Each week, the Texas Standard is reaching out to Austin’s Typewriter Rodeo for a custom poem on a relevant headline or topic.

It’s seems like at least weekly these days that we hear about a new way someone is using drones. That was the inspiration for this week’s Typewriter Rodeo poem by David Fruchter.

DRONE-A-RONI

You may know the sky

Has many more eyes

Than it used to;

Buzzing and sporting

All the gear for recording

All your moves, too

Over there, firing missiles

Over here, they’re dog whistles

On the loose — you

May wish them away

But they’re here to stay

Your future news crew

Unalive from the skies

Coming hard from your back yard

You’ll nevermore be alone,

For it is

The age

Of the drone.
