Typewriter Rodeo: Flat tires

Each week, the Standard reaches out to Austin’s Typewriter Rodeo for a custom poem on Texas topics.

Flat tires

The season’s change
always suck the air
from my tires, sends me sliding
to the side of the road,
trying to remember
how to put on a spare
or use that gas station air
35 or 33?
What does PSI even mean?
Thank god for the stranger,
the sister, the friend
who knows these things
who comes with tools
and an extra beanie since it’s cold now
The constants
when the temperature changes
when EVERYTHING changes
and our lives spin out
of control
