Each week, the Standard reaches out to Austin’s Typewriter Rodeo for a custom poem on the news.

The time has come for holiday cards and the epic holiday letter. That was the inspiration for Typewriter Rodeo’s Kari Anne Roy as she wrote this week’s poem.

Holiday Letter

Dear everyone I know
And have ever met,
Our family is hashtag blessed
to be sending this
our year
so lovely
was definitely better than yours
jk

Of course we had the vacation
dreams are made of
and so many pay raises
and home renovations
you’d think we were stinking rich
haha

but seriously
this letter is meant to tell you
the holidays are such an important time
to bare everything
not quite true
in 12 point comic sans
over watermarks of happy puppies

the holidays are just great
for reaching out
arms clad
in heavily knitted sweater
to say

everything is so perfect
we surely don’t
and would never
set the house on fire
and run to Belize
haha
hashtag blessed

love,
the person who sits in the cubicle/
lives across the street/
met you once
is your sister
