Typewriter Rodeo: It’s A Wordle World

Each week, the Standard reaches out to Austin’s Typewriter Rodeo for a custom poem on Texas topics.

The daily online word game trend has kept up since The New York Times purchased Wordle. For now, it’s just part of a routine for many. Will that change and is the sharing of those green and yellow boxes still annoying? That was the inspiration of this Typewriter Rodeo poem.

It’s A Wordle World

Each day I start
With that mental hurdle
Coffee, then phone, then
Come on, Wordle!

Should I always begin
With the same letters?
Or would a new word each time
Serve me better?

I got it in three!
Should I share with my friends?
Or are they sick of me posting
About it again?

I’ve tried all the spinoffs
Some with four words, some eight
Now half the day’s gone
I’m gonna be late!

Some folks think
All this is absurd
But I’m only thinking
Of tomorrow’s word

Someday, I’m sure,
With this fad I’ll be done
But not before
I get it in one.
