Typewriter Rodeo: Living The… Pants?

Each week, the Standard reaches out to Austin’s Typewriter Rodeo for a custom poem on Texas topics.

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted every part of our lives -– including our nightmares. Now that some sectors of the world continue to open up, many are finding the details of those nightmares are shifting. That was the inspiration for this Typewriter Rodeo Poem.

Living The… Pants?

it was the classic nightmare
no one wanted to come true:
wearing no pants
in the middle of school

Then the nightmare morphed
and you were living the dream,
no pants needed when
school is a camera you can point
at the ceiling

So what happens now
that we’re in person again?
Is THIS the dream we want to come true?
Or has the nightmare morphed again?
I mean,
Who even has pants that fit anymore?

Not me.
Do you?
