Many weekends in Texas, revelers with a penchant for a certain time in history can find a place to celebrate. That was the inspiration for this poem.
MEDIEVAL FESTIVALS
The sign says it all
In ye olde fonts–
Welcome, revelers,
To the Renaissance
Grab a sword
And a turkey leg
Drink some mead
Straight from the keg!
Get your face painted
With a Tiger Lily
No those leggings
Don’t make you look silly!
Cheer the joust!
Laugh at the shows!
Just be careful
When the wind really blows…
‘Cuz dressed in leather and tunics
It’s hotter than a wench
And nothing says Ren-Faire
Like that medieval stench.
