Typewriter Rodeo: More Meetings

Each week, the Standard reaches out to Austin’s Typewriter Rodeo for a custom poem on Texas topics.

The holidays are officially over, which means most Americans are returning to work. But that can also mean more meetings … dreaded meetings. That was the inspiration for this week’s Typewriter Rodeo poem.

More Meetings

We had one on Tuesday

And Wednesday morning

And now it looks

Like another is forming

A meeting to discuss

What we’re doing next month …

Which we just did last week —

Isn’t once enough?

And it seems like we have them

Just so Jim gets to speak

And tell his jokes,

The same ones, on repeat.

Maybe if we stuck

To a semi-strict order

Or actually followed the agenda

They’d be SO much shorter

But they drag on! There’s too many!

I don’t mean to sound like a jerk,

But maybe if we didn’t meet so much

We could, I don’t know… work?
