Typewriter Rodeo: On The Unlikely Passtime Of Pilfering Table Tents

Each week, the Standard reaches out to Austin’s Typewriter Rodeo for a custom poem on Texas topics.

Some Whataburger fans love the Texas chain so much that they feel the need to take home a souvenir. Like many of the restaurant’s original outlets, the pilfered keepsakes feature a prominent A-frame.

On the Unlikely Passtime of Pilfering Table Tents

I ordered my double with cheese

Lettuce, tomato, a side of fries

A chocolate shake, an apple pie

And a carefully crafted disguise

For I’m in the land in my small town

I leave my classmates bereft

No Whataburger table tent is safe

From my crafty petty theft

You can take your big bank vault

And spin it with a side of Whatachick’n

For table tent #42

Is all mine for the pickin’
