Typewriter Rodeo: Small-Town Festivals

Each week, the Standard reaches out to Austin’s Typewriter Rodeo for a custom poem on Texas topics.

With rows and rows of carnival games, odd attractions and as much fried food as your heart could desire, who can resist the allure of a small local festival? That was the inspiration for this week’s Typewriter Rodeo.

Small-Town Festivals

hey tiny baby pig

would you like this oreo

better run fast!

hey tiny baby human

would you like this funnel cake

corn dog

sample of cheese

cotton candy?

better beg for it!

hey bigger grown-up human

would you like a

strange

memorable

fun

weekend afternoon?

better pop by the

rattlesnake festival

strawberry festival

watermelon thump

FFA round-up

hot sauce jubilee

cause oh baby

small town festival season

is here

right now

for you

for them

for me

yee haw!
