The phrase is a regular part of our vocabulary by now. And though for some it is tempting to break the social distancing bubble, for others, it’s a very welcome health guidance because it fits with their personal tendencies. That was the inspiration for this Typewriter Rodeo poem.
Social Distancing
if you are like me,
an introvert hermit,
you have been in training for just this moment
since forever
to me
and to you
this thing they call distance
is the thing you refer to as
WHEW
this thing they call social
is the thing you dread
even fear
in sweaty dreams
that
wait for it
no longer come true!
yes!
this new truth
this social distancing
is your Olympic race embued
guess who wins gold now?
You do! you!
Guess who wins silver?
you win that, too!
And bronze, even 4th,
you win every prize
because staying alone means
staying alive!
