Spring is up ahead and that means it’s time to plan some camping trips! That was the inspiration for Typewriter Rodeo’s Kari Anne Roy as she wrote this week’s poem.
Texas Campgrounds
oh the great outdoors
so wonderful to behold
with your sparking lakes
and blue blue skies
and that guy
over there
illegally parked on the side
of the path
of Texas campgrounds
so wonderful to behold
from the vantage
of side by side tent
and the bathroom
that almost works
oh beautiful day
oh lovely serenity
only marred
by some squirrels fighting over
Beaver Nuggets
and that lady’s cough
that sounds like a backhoe
the state needs
to fix this latrine
