Typewriter Rodeo: Texas Winter Drivers

Each week, Texas Standard reaches out to Austin’s Typewriter Rodeo for a custom poem on a relevant topic or headline.

Texas dealt with another round of winter weather this week. Some of it in North Texas was genuinely serious. Some of it in Central Texas – not so much.

Sean Petrie with Austin’s Typewriter Rodeo writes this week about how the average Texan doesn’t have that much experience with icy roads.

TEXAS WINTER DRIVERS

Oh my goodness, what’s that?

I think it might be… ice?

Yes, I’ll be just fine.

No, I don’t need your advice.

It’s just like when it’s wet,

I’ll increase my speed again.

Oh whoa, hey, what’s that?

I’m in the median.

Great, now I’m facing backwards.

And I’m not sure what to do.

But at least I won’t be late to work.

My boss is here, too.
