Typewriter Rodeo: The Mysteries Of Space

Each week, the Standard reaches out to Austin’s Typewriter Rodeo for a custom poem on Texas topics.

Space discoveries are breathtaking and wondrous. They can even lead us down a research rabbit hole. But will we ever be able to fully wrap our heads around what’s been discovered?

The Mysteries of Space

It happened again –

  a news flash

  a breaking report

     something wholly unimaginable

  now tangible, visible, viewable

This time,

we see – we actually SEE – a black hole

Next time,

  what

we can touch the space-time continuum?

And there they go

    the scientists

  working their eye-rubbing nights

unpacking data and synthesizing feeds

Until one molecule reveals the universe

And I am all here for it!

The majesty! The wonder!

I! Want! To! Know! MORE!

  So, I read

I dig into the research

And I remember

with just a wee bit of resignation

That although I may now

  have seen a black hole

I sure don’t have any clue

  what I’m seeing

Thank your scientists,

  friends

For figuring out how to

  translate

    work into wonder
