Typewriter Rodeo: The Weather In Texas In The Fall

Each week, the Standard reaches out to Austin’s Typewriter Rodeo for a custom poem on Texas topics.

The sweater you wore to work has you sweating by the end of the day. Next morning, you’re looking for a winter coat behind the tank tops in your closet. Yep, it’s November in the Lone Star State.

The Weather In Texas In The Fall

The high yesterday was 103

So I wore my best flip flops to work

But today it only barely hit 45

I borrowed some socks from the clerk

I’m finding my perfect Texas fall groove

By always being prepared

Layer upon layer upon more layers too

Enough so I have layers to share

Bring it on, cold fronts! I’ve got this wool hat

That I pull out one day every year

But it magically transforms into a koozie

So it can hold my hot summer day beer…

I love a good forecast, the rollercoaster ride

Of fronts and jet streams that flow

And I’m always ready for the next shifting winds

Bring it, hot

Bring it, cold

…bring it… snow?
