Typewriter Rodeo: Work Meetings In The Time Of Coronavirus

Each week, the Standard reaches out to Austin’s Typewriter Rodeo for a custom poem on Texas topics.

By Jodi EgertonAugust 7, 2020 10:07 am,

In a period of high unemployment and great risks with some in-person work, being able to connect remotely is a privilege. But it’s not always without its problems. That was the inspiration for this Typewriter Rodeo poem.

Work Meetings in the Time of Coronavirus

Let’s dive in on our agenda

Just pretend we’re all together

like normal

It’s great to see your faces again

Judith, love the painting behind you!

Ben, maybe make your bed before our next call

Or

you know

try one of those virtual backgrounds

Oh great, the Death Star is an

improvement

First item – a check in from Marketing

Can everyone mute yourselves?

Mute?

Click mute?

I think

I’m definitely hearing someone

crunching chips

Please

mute?

You know what,

let’s call this a success

I loved seeing your cats

And appreciate no one standing up

Because I know you’re all wearing

pajama pants

Let’s try again Monday

Go team!
