Uber faces allegations that its drivers discriminate against passengers with disabilities. The Department of Justice filed suit last week, and it’s not the first time the ride-hailing company has faced these charges.

Tech expert Omar Gallaga wrote about the suit for CNET.

Highlights from this segment:

– According to the DOJ suit, Uber routinely refuses service to riders with service animals, as well as those with foldable wheelchairs.

– Disability activists have protested Uber and Lyft, citing what they say are the companies’ failures to discipline drivers who deny service to riders with disabilities.

– Uber has also been accused of imposing cancelation fees on riders who required extra time to meet a driver.
