WATCH: Ted Cruz, Colin Allred debate in Dallas

It was the candidates’ only debate, coming less than a week before early voting kicks off in Texas.

Republican U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz and his Democratic challenger, U.S. Rep. Colin Allred, will face off at 7 p.m. CT in their only debate of the election season.

The debate at WFAA in Dallas will be moderated by Jason Whitely of WFAA and Gromer Jeffers Jr. of The Dallas Morning News.

The rules and format of the debate are as follows:

– Candidates will get a minute for introductions

–  Each will get 90 seconds after being asked a question with 90 seconds allotted for the other candidate to respond. Moderators will also ask a follow up question if necessary.

– Cruz and Allred will also have a minute for closing statements at the end of the hourlong debate.
