Watch: Gov. Greg Abbott’s State of the State address

The governor was expected to declare his emergency items for the legislative session in his speech, starting at 5 p.m. CDT.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott will deliver his biennial State of the State address on Sunday evening, declaring his emergency items for the 2025 legislative session.

According to the Texas Constitution, legislation related to the governor’s emergency items are the only things lawmakers can pass during the session’s first 60 days.

While Abbott hasn’t yet made his priorities for the session explicit, it’s expected he’ll prompt state lawmakers to pass a school voucher-like bill, as well as legislation around border security and decreasing property taxes for Texas home and business owners.

The governor’s speech will be broadcast live on 15 Nexstar television stations in Texas at 5 p.m. CDT. Watch a replay below:
