We’re Spending Big For The Holidays, And We’re Doing It On Our Phones

The traditional Black Friday and Cyber Monday deal days have given way to a longer, but less spectacular, period of discounts from online retailers. And it’s all in the palm of your hand.

Online retail sales broke another record on Cyber Monday this week. Americans parted with nearly $8 billion during what’s traditionally considered the biggest day of the year for internet purchases. Black Friday and the weekend that followed were also record-breakers. And this year, more of us than ever made those purchases on our phones. Our tech expert Omar Gallaga says sales revenue for retailers was great, but discounts for consumers were not.

“Now you’ve got Cyber Week, you’ve got the Friday before Thanksgiving … I think, just slugging it out over a longer period of time,” Gallaga says.
