What Back To School Gadgets Should Parents Really Consider?

Spending for back-to-school shopping has gone up 24 percent since 2011. The Statesman’s Omar Gallaga says it’s because we’re buying more stuff, and recommends parents focus on the essentials.

August is a bum month for a lot of kids, mostly because it marks the return to school. That has a lot of parents clamoring to pick up school supplies, and many have probably noticed it’s not just pens, pencils and paper kids are carrying to class these days. The supply list also includes laptops, tablets and smartphones. So what gizmos and gadgets should parents seriously consider?
