Today, just in time for Halloween weekend, we’re joined by the two guys behind Austin Séance: Albert Lucio and Jake Cordero. You might remember them talking about their work here on the Standard over the summer.
If you’re interested in contacting some spirits from Austin over the weekend – they’re holding several séances for Halloween.
Here are this week’s terrifying Texas tales.
1. The Haunted Attraction Association named the top 14 haunted attractions around the country. And only one of them is in Texas – the Creepy Hollow Haunted House about 30 miles outside of Houston. Most other spooky sites were in the Midwest or on the East Coast.
2. Who needs a haunted house when you can have a whole haunted theater? That’s the thinking in Archer City – home to the Royal Theater. It was first made famous in the 1971 Oscar-winning film, “The Last Picture Show.” But this weekend, the historic site will be in the spotlight for a spooky Halloween show.
3. If you thought haunted houses or theaters were scary, wait until you try the Apocalypse Experience in the fake – but cleverly named – town of Judge Mint. The 40-minute tour starts out near a cute gazebo but quickly develops into a hellscape riddled with wars and natural disasters. The folks behind this tour spent about $200,000 to build the set in Parker County.
