Say you’ve got a new iPhone, or just bought a shiny new ultra 4k television. But what do you do with the old gadget it replaced? Is taking it out to the dumpster the best thing to do? How about selling or recycling it? Digital savant Omar Gallaga of the Austin American-Statesman’s 512 Tech says one option is to hand that old phone down to a child or teenager in your life. Or turn an old phone into a remote control for smart home technology. Whatever you do, don’t just throw your old tech in the trash, Gallaga says.
