It’s not exactly breaking news that Texas is big on beef: we’re officially the nation’s largest cattle producer. But on top of issues like drought and livestock availability, Texas ranchers have another worry right now: cattle thieves.

Though city dwellers may think cattle rustling is something that went out with days of the Old West, don’t tell that to Wayne Goodman, a special ranger with the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association.
