Maggie Asfahani, editor for What’s Up Weeklysays a great way to celebrate Mother’s Day is El Paso’s Mariachi Loco Music Festival. The 3-day event features mariachis, folkloric dancers,
impersonators, amazing ropers, and live music from around the El Paso, Ciudad Juarez & Las Cruces Region.

If you find yourself near the hometown of legendary Texas politician, John Nance Garner, you won’t want to miss the Cactus Jack Bull Riding competition in Uvalde. Logan Garnett, General Manager for the Uvalde Leader-News says it’s an opportunity to witness several of the nation’s best bull riders, take in some live music, and  check out some little riders in the mutton bustin’ event.

The forecast for Austin is rain, but the O. Henry Pun-Off World Championships shouldn’t be mist. Managing Editor for the Austin Chronicle Kimberley Jones says it’s been a city tradition since 1977. On Saturday, 32 pun-slingers will face off in a battle of wincing witticisms.
