A lot of boots have life left in them after they’ve been grown out of, discarded, or left behind by their original owners. That was the inspiration for this Typewriter Rodeo poem.
Second Hand boots
second hand boots
thrift. store treasure
clothes cut fine
to another’s measure
scent of the former
life that was lived
if they can see me
I hope they forgive
my occupation
of their sweet suit
as i wriggle toes
within their boots
feeling a way
in another man’s clothes
this second hand life
is the way that I chose
to live…
