After the deadly shooting at Santa Fe High School last Friday, several claims were made about student death statistics, the use of prescribed drugs by school shooters, and the killer’s politics.
An online news item was headlined, “Santa Fe Killer Expresses His Love For Obama.” It appeared on Facebook, which flagged it as being inaccurate.
Florida gubernatorial candidate Gwen Graham said, “So far this year, more students have been killed in schools than soldiers in combat zones.”
National Rifle Association President Oliver North said, after the Santa Fe shooting, that many who have committed school violence were taking drugs prescribed for ADHD, including Ritalin “since they were in kindergarten.”
