Joel Mason has been driving busses for Capital Metro in Austin for 40 years. He drives on the route from downtown to East Austin. Every morning he goes on a walk to prepare himself for the day.
“Once I get to work I have my blood running and I am ready to work,” Mason says.
He’s patient with his passengers.
“I don’t get irritated when people are looking for their fare. I ask them to be seated and return back with the fare,” Mason says.
