Remember the “Pokemon Go” craze a couple of years ago? Well there’s a similar craze today thanks to the new mobile video game, “Harry Potter: Wizards Unite.” The game reached 400,000 downloads in the first 24 hours, and has people walking around in public waving their phones, just like many did in 2016.
Our tech and gaming expert, Omar Gallaga, says the company, Niantic, which specializes in augmented reality, developed both games. And he says the gameplay in “Wizards Unite” is very similar to that of “Pokemon Go.”
“But of course, with all the ‘Harry Potter’ lore, with the creatures and spells and potions,” Gallaga says. “Its got kind of a ‘Harry Potter’ skin over the same concept, and, in my opinion, just much better done out of the gate – it’s got a lot going on in it.”
