It’s no secret that observers who follow the tech industry, along with lots of regular people, are worried about AI.
Is it dangerous? Does its use allow misinformation and deepfakes to flourish?
Well, it seems that even those whose tech products are closely associated with AI are thinking about its potential impact. That includes Instagram chief Adam Mosseri, who recently wrote a post about the ways AI is changing photography and how those impacts are likely to affect Instagram.
Tech expert Omar Gallaga wrote about the post for CNET and joined the Standard to tell us more.
Highlights from this segment:
– As AI is getting better at creating polished images, content creators are opting for more raw and imperfect images to distinguish themselves – something Mosseri is encouraging.
– Mosseri is also pushing for more up-front labeling to define which images are generated.
– While Mosseri did push for more labeling, he didn’t call for an outright ban of AI on platforms like Instagram.
