“Nothing is perfect, we know that. But it’s all about how we deal with it together; it’s no individual thing anymore.”

Tonya and Leon Miller are newlyweds – for the second time. They first married in 2005, and stayed that way for 12 years. Then they divorced in 2017.

“I even tried to date,” Leon says. “That was weird.”

And Tonya moved away from Texas for a time.

Tonya says she thinks the root of some of their problems was not working as a team. She says she neglected Leon and didn’t include him in making decisions about her kids. She says she put him on the “back burner.”

“When you don’t feel appreciated, then you might do something stupid that you shouldn’t do,” Leon says. “I did some things that I shouldn’t have done.”

During their divorce, Tonya was battling ovarian cancer. But she didn’t say much about it to Leon.

“It made me feel like I wasn’t whole,” Tonya says.

Leon says God brought him and Tonya back together.

“God works in mysterious ways,” he says. “You don’t miss your water till the well runs dry.”

Now that they’re back together, they say this time it’s forever.

“For life,” Leon says.

“I know in my heart it’s forever,” Tonya says. “Nothing is perfect, we know that. But it’s all about how we deal with it together; it’s no individual thing anymore.”
