Barbecue banned in Austin? Bernie Sanders a Democratic socialist? What did they say Planned Parenthood was selling?

Some mighty big claims made this year – how much of it is fact? It’s been a hot year for fact-checkers. Good thing we have PolitiFact Texas fact-checker Gardner Selby to recap the year’s most popular claims.

Selby says the team at the Austin American-Statesman, coupled with folks from the San Antonio Express-News and the Houston Chronicle, compiled their most-clicked claims, including several with their strongest “False” rating: Pants on Fire!

“We say ridiculous,” he says. “The claim is factually incorrect and ridiculous.”

Hear the year’s most popular claims and how they rated in the audio player above.
