In a year when data breaches and other cybercrimes were regularly in the news, it could be difficult to tell which stories were the most significant.

Tech expert Omar Gallaga says that some of 2019’s biggest hacks affected mobile devices, social networks and even government data.

“When a lot of these breaches happen, they make the tech … news, but they don’t go mainstream,” Gallaga says. “It’s actually still happening a lot, and we just don’t hear much about it.
