In case you haven’t noticed yet, it’s Wrapped season.
Spotify dropped its annual Wrapped compilations for everyone on Wednesday. But when it comes to recaps of what media you’ve consumed this year, Spotify is no longer the only game in town.
If you use Apple Music or get your media from Amazon, there’s a year-end recap waiting for you too. Even YouTube has gotten into the act this year.
Tech expert Omar Gallaga joined the Standard to tell us what’s new in recaps and why everyone’s following Spotify’s lead.
Highlights from this segment:
– Spotify introduced two new features that are garnering buzz: A multiplayer game called Wrapped Party and a new listening age label.
– Amazon’s recap fashioned its rollout into a sort of music festival experience, with badges and a festival-style poster of your favorite artists.
– Apple Music and YouTube are taking part in the recap craze, as well, though the offerings are not yet as robust at Spotify’s.
