Evacuations underway as Hurricane Milton approaches Florida’s coast
People in Florida are running out of time to evacuate as Hurricane Milton nears the state’s western coastline, expected to make landfall as early as this evening. Milton is the ninth hurricane of the 2024 Atlantic season and has rapidly intensified into a Category 5 storm, with sustained winds of 160 mph as of this morning, making it one of the most powerful storms ever recorded in the Atlantic.
