Eating Halloween Candy – Still …
So,
my root beer flavored tootsie pop
it is down to you
and me
I scavenged my way
through the pile of
chocolate wrappers
melted gummy bits
and smushed candy corn
and found
my treasure
maybe not my go-t0
maybe not my super fave
certainly not the king size reese’s cups
that I could not persuade
my kids to share
But still
a little pop of sweetness
a reminder of the costumed chaos
and joyful scares
that launched us
into this too hot
Texas fall
No trick,
all treat
and all mine
