Typewriter Rodeo: Ode to Big Red

Each week, the Standard reaches out to Austin’s Typewriter Rodeo for a custom poem on Texas topics.

Ode to Big Red

Oh let those bubbles
Go straight to my head
No not champagne
I’m talking Big Red

I’m talking some spice
Mixed with some sweet
I’m talking a unique
Soft drink treat

There’s nothing else
That tastes like this!
It’s two parts tickling
And three parts bliss

You can have your Coke
And Dr. Pepper
To me this boldness
Tastes way better

It’s like how a first kiss
Gives you all the feels
It’s like riding a bike
With no training wheels!

It’s childhood and laughter
Mixed in a cup
Go on, grab a straw
Go on, drink up!

It’s not just how it tastes
It’s how it makes you feel
And I don’t really care
If that color is real.
